FEES & INSURANCE

Payment is expected at the time of each office visit and may be made in the form of cash, check or credit card. If financial problems arise due to unforeseen illness or expense, making immediate payments a hardship, please let us know. We participate with most HMO and PPO plans. Please feel free to inquire if you are unsure of our participation status with a particular insurance plan. As a courtesy to our elderly patients, we are a participating Medicare practice and accept Medicare assignment for services. However, patients are responsible for deductibles and co-payments. Patients who carry healthcare insurance should remember that professional services are rendered and charged to the patient and not the insurance company. Insured patients are expected to take care of their fees as services are rendered. As a service, we will file your claims from our office with your insurance company. We want you to receive maximum benefits from your insurance, but remind you that the agreement of the insurance company to pay for medical care is a contract between you and the company. Please notify our staff immediately of any change in insurance status.

APPOINTMENTS

We encourage appointments as the best system for delivering comprehensive health care in an equitable and timely manner. Our physician and staff value your time and strive to keep waiting to a minimum in our practice. Same day appointments with either our physician or PA are usually available. Please call (251) 675-5034 to schedule a visit to our office. If you have an emergency problem such as chest pain, severe abdominal pain or major trauma, please mention this to our receptionist. A licensed nurse is available to speak with you and determine the best setting to provide care for your problem.

TELEPHONE

Our office staff handles telephone calls during normal office hours. They are capable of handling most telephone questions or problems. During busy times in the day, you may be asked to leave a phone number and one of our licensed nurses will call you back. If you feel a problem needs the personal attention of the physician, please indicate this to our staff and they will be happy to set up an appointment for that purpose.

EMERGENCIES

Our practice maintains a 24-hour answering service for your convenience. For after-hour emergencies, please call our main number for referral to the answering service. One of our staff members will return your call promptly. We ask that calls for appointments, routine questions and medication refill requests be made during regular office hours.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Call us as early in the day as possible for same day appointments. Our office opens Monday through Friday at 7:30 am for your convenience. Please notify us as far in advance as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment. Please notify the receptionist of any change in your address, phone number, marital status or insurance information. Offer suggestions to improve the service or increase the comfort and convenience or our patients.
